Mediapatriotbhayangkara.com | Bekasi City — The performance of Perumda Tirta Patriot, a Regionally-Owned Enterprise (BUMD) providing clean water services in Bekasi City, has been deemed very poor and has drawn harsh criticism from the public.
Frits Saikat firmly stated that the management and board of directors of Perumda Tirta Patriot had totally failed in providing adequate basic services to the residents of Bekasi City.
Various chronic problems that are repeated and complained about by customers include:
Distribution is Frequently Disrupted and Lives “Unusual”: Clean water supply often goes out for days without adequate notification or warning to customers. In some areas, such as North Bekasi, water only flows a trickle or only comes out in the middle of the night.
– Poor Water Quality: Residents often complain that the water flowing to their homes is cloudy, smelly, and even blackish in color, resembling sewage water, especially when the Bekasi River is polluted by industrial waste from upstream.
– Bills Soar Amid Water Crisis: Ironically, many residents report that even though the water is not flowing or has been off for a long period of time, monthly bills continue to run or even increase drastically without any clear basis for usage.
– Slow Complaint Response: Customer service or call centers are often deemed unresponsive. Emergency assistance, such as promised clean water tankers, is often difficult to access or slow to arrive when residents need it most.
– Infrastructure Damage: Frequent leaks in main distribution pipes (such as in the South Bekasi area and its surroundings) indicate the need for more serious infrastructure rejuvenation so that services are not continuously disrupted.
“Due to this series of recurring service issues, Frits Saikat emphasized that urging management and the board of directors to re-evaluate their performance or even replace them is an absolute must to safeguard the rights of the Bekasi City residents who have been harmed,” Frits Saikat concluded when met by media colleagues.
